1891 Little Daughters Pleasure Book by Mary D. Brine. Measures 9 1/2" by 8". 229 pages. Thick book. Shows age and use. The first couple pages are coming out. I tried not to handle it much due to it's age.

Step back into the late 19th century with this charming piece of Victorian literary history, the 1891 "Little Daughters Pleasure Book" by prolific American author Mary D. Brine. Brine was a celebrated poet and novelist of her time, best known for her heartwarming children's stories and her famous poem "Somebody's Mother". This substantial volume, measuring 9 1/2" by 8", contains 229 pages of stories and verses designed for young readers of the era.

The book features a decorative tan cover with detailed black stamped engravings typical of 1890s nursery literature. While it shows honest signs of age and significant use—including a few loose pages at the beginning—it remains a fascinating window into the world of over a century ago. These types of large-format "pleasure books" were often filled with beautiful black-and-white engravings and served as prized family keepsakes in Victorian homes.

This item is antique, over 130 years old. While it appears to be in good condition for its age, there is the possibility I may have missed a minor detail. In the unlikely event I missed a major flaw, I would reach out prior to sending it.
