1983 Franklin Mint De Soto Pewter Hood Ornament. Stands 1.5" in height by 1.5" long. Excellent condition. Sticker residue on the bottom.
Celebrate the "Golden Age" of American motoring with this 1983 Franklin Mint miniature replica of the iconic De Soto hood ornament. Introduced by Walter Chrysler in 1928, the De Soto brand was named after the 16th-century Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto to symbolize a spirit of pioneering and adventure. The explorer's likeness served as the brand's distinguished mascot throughout much of its production history until 1961.
This fine pewter sculpture was released as part of the "Official Hood Ornaments of America's Greatest Cars" collection. Standing 1.5 inches tall, the piece features an impressively detailed rendering of the conquistador in his traditional armor. It remains securely mounted to its original wood display stand, making it a perfect addition to a desk, library, or automotive memorabilia collection. While the sculpture and wood base are in excellent condition, there is some minor sticker residue on the bottom of the stand from its previous life in a collection.
This item is vintage, over 40 years old. While it appears to be in excellent condition, there is the possibility I may have missed a minor detail. In the unlikely event I missed a major flaw I would reach out prior to sending it.
