Vintage Black Laquer Asian Shell Inlaid Wall Hanging. Measures 23 1/2" by almost 16". Very good condition.

Add an elegant focal point to your home with this vintage large-scale Asian black lacquer wall hanging. Measuring 23 1/2" by nearly 16", this oval plaque features a scalloped "pie crust" rim accented with a distinctive gold-flecked or "nashiji" lacquer technique and delicate shell blossoms. The center showcases a masterful example of Raden (shell inlay) art, using iridescent mother of pearl to create a luminous, three-dimensional landscape of a riverside pagoda, tall palm trees, and a traditional Japanese bridge.

The scene is brought to life by two central figures walking along the water's edge, their robes shimmering with natural pink and green overtones from the shell. This piece is a beautiful representation of mid-century Chinoiserie or Japandi style, perfect for adding texture and light to a gallery wall or entryway. It is in very good condition with the lacquer finish maintaining its deep, reflective shine and all inlay work appearing intact.
