Vintage Clear Glass Footed Bowl with Fruit. Measures about 2" in height by 6.5" wide at the top. Excellent condition.

This exquisite clear glass bowl is a recognizable piece of mid-century Americana, produced by the Federal Glass Company as part of their celebrated Pioneer pattern. Unlike embossed glass where the design sits on the surface, this bowl features an "intaglio" or recessed fruit motif at its center, showcasing a harvest of grapes, pears, and apples that appear to be carved into the glass itself. The bowl is supported by a modest footed base, which elevates the piece and allows light to pass through the pressed patterns, creating a beautiful play of shadows on any surface.

Dating to the late 1940s or early 1950s, the Pioneer pattern was a staple in many households, prized for its durability and its decorative ruffled edge. The texture along the rim adds a refined, tactile element that contrasts perfectly with the smooth, heavy glass of the body. While it was originally intended for serving fresh fruit or seasonal salads, its shallow six-inch profile makes it a versatile addition to a modern home. It works wonderfully as a sophisticated candy dish, a sophisticated vessel for potpourri, or a catch-all for small treasures on a Victorian-style vanity. The glass remains remarkably clear and bright, serving as a testament to the quality of mid-century American glass manufacturing.

This item is vintage, approximately 75 years old. All measurements are close but approximate. I measure in quarter inches.
